General: Freestyle action aplenty for Motorcycle Expo

Freestyle motocross and jetski riders will team up to deliver the nation’s most insane display of aerial and aqua stunts at the Australian Motorcycle Expo Gold Coast beginning next Friday.

The Gold Coast Convention and Exhibition Centre will again play host to the nation’s largest motorcycle showcase event and the riverside Yamaha Action Arena is sure to be the centre of attention.

Eight-time World Freestyle Jet Ski Champion Eric Malone will arrive on the Gold Coast from the United States next week ahead of performing a number of hair-raising tricks, including backflips and barrel rolls on flat water.

He will be joined by leading Australian rider and Gold Coast local Jon ‘Wire’ Cooke, who will also showcase his skills.

A crowd favourite attraction at the 2009 event, freestyle motocross demonstrations from Showtime FMX riders Matty McFerran, Brad Burch and Chucky Norris will add to the adrenaline-pumping action.

The Brown’s Grafix Mini Bike Crew will inject further fun into the mix, performing a range of unique tricks on 50cc motorcycles.

Mark Petersen from the Australian Motorcycle Expo said the entertainment package for the event will complement the comprehensive range of new motorcycle and jet ski models on display.

“This year we’ve put together the ultimate land and water entertainment program, combining freestyle motocross and jet skiing,” said Petersen.

“The way we’ve laid out the compound will also mean that visitors won’t have to go far to see some of the best riders across three different disciplines in action.

“Along with the freestyle motocross and jet ski demonstrations, the current Australian Superbike Champion, Josh Waters will be at the event signing autographs on the Friday and Saturday. There will also be a range of giveaways and promotions and all those attending the event will have the chance to win a $40,000 custom Chopper.

“It will be the best place to buy a new motorbike, scooter or jet-ski with a range of manufacturers already indicating that they will be offering incredible discounts.”

The Australian Motorcycle Expo will begin at the Gold Coast Convention and Exhibition Centre on Friday 19 February and run through until Sunday 21 February.
