Australian Garry McCoy has announced a separation from the ill-fated FB Corse MotoGP World Championship team, derailing his aspirations to return to motorcycling’s premier class in 2010.

McCoy signed on for the ambitious Italian project after losing his ride at the last-minute with the Triumph World Supersport team in January, however the FB01 has failed to live up to expectations and promises from the team that they’d be racing by round three were unmet.

“After spending the last four months training at top level, today I am at my best mentally and physically to race,” McCoy explained. “I thought FB Corse was ready to do the step but they haven’t accomplished the needs till
now required.”

The split leaves the ex-500cc Grand Prix winner without a ride once again in his rollercoaster career, however he remains adamant that he belongs at a world championship level.

“My goal is to come back to the world championship. Hopefully soon, I will be able to update you with more news,” he concluded.

The future of the FB Corse project is uncertain at this point.
