Value of TV for national racing...

I found this story pretty interesting as V8 Supercars team owner and driver Paul Morris questioned the value of television for national level racing: http://www.speedcafe.com.au/2010/08/09/questions-on-value-of-tv-for-national-racing/

We’ve heard some say that TV is everything for Aussie bike racing, while others have dismissed its worth.

For Super X I think it’s an exceptional advantage since it’s live in the prime time on Saturday nights, but even I get a little bored watching ASBK, FX or the MX Nationals when they are played a few weeks after the events (granted because I’m usually at the races).

What do you guys think?

For competitors, does television have a huge impact when sourcing sponsors.

From a fans’ point of view, do you take notice of rider sponsors or decals on the bikes when watching (can you even see them)?
