Oz MX: Women's championship secures title sponsorship

This year’s Australian Women’s Motocross Championship will be supported by Motul and Pirelli as the naming-rights sponsors of the event to be held on 24 October at the Albury Wodonga Motorcycle Club in Victoria.

The top women’s motocross event in Australia has a new name thanks to Link International, now titled The 2010 Motul Pirelli Australian Women’s Motocross Championship.

“The Women’s Championship is a natural fit with the company’s philosophy of supporting grass roots events,” said Brenden Stoeckert, general manager for Link International.

“The 2010 event promises to put women’s motocross on the map in Australia and it was important that we were part of that opportunity. Both Motul and Pirelli have evolved from motorsport racing and I’m excited the tradition can continue into women’s motocross.”

Event promoter Fiona Collins is equally as enthusiastic, excited to secure the sponsorship deal with Link International.

“From the F1 championship to the Isle on Mann TT, both Motul and Pirelli have always been connected with the highest forms of motorsport competition and it is a huge boost to women’s motocross to have these iconic brands associated with the first stand alone women’s motorcycle championship in Australia,” Collins commented.

The championship class will also benefit from Pirelli contingency with the first three finishers in each race using Pirelli tyres scoring Pirelli product.

Entries along with contingency registration are now available on www.nominate.com.au.

Supporting the championship racing is a complement of women’s and junior girl’s classes along with Open and Lites racing.

In the lead up to the event more details of the championship will be available on the event site www.wmxnationals.com.au.

Entry to the event is $5.00 per adult with all proceeds being donated to the McGrath Foundation.
