Oz MX: Motorcycling Victoria celebrates state champions

Motorcycling Victoria celebrated a successful year of Victorian Motocross Championships on Saturday night, with its first presentation evening held in Melbourne.

Nearly 330 people flocked to Bayview Eden to attend the event, in what was a wonderful celebration of the year’s racing in both the Senior and Junior Motocross Championships.

The evening, organised by the Motocross Management Committee, included trophies being presented to the top-three finishers in each class of competition, and the riders each took the opportunity to thank their families and sponsors for support throughout the year.

Representatives from Peter Stevens and Ringmaster Images were in attendance to receive appreciation awards, with all other non-attending sponsors receiving recognition as well including Swann Insurance, Hart & Huntington, Dunlop, Motul, Dirt Action and Red Bull.

Lorraine Macdonald presented an award bestowed in her name to Les Odges, in recognition to his outstanding service to the sport.

The night included dancing, door prizes, photo slideshows and more, in what will hopefully become an annual tradition for the discipline.

Speaking about the night, MV CEO Andrew Weiss said that it was a wonderful way to wrap up a successful Motocross season.

“As far as the night went, everyone seemed to thoroughly enjoy themselves,” Weiss said. “It was a fantastic way to recognise the feats of the riders, their families, friends, sponsors administrators and anyone who had anything to do with each of the championships.

“The Motocross Management Committee worked exceptionally hard to organise the night, and it really was the cherry on top of what was a brilliant year for Motocross in Victoria.”
