South Australian Brett Metcalfe has signed for the Rockstar Makita Suzuki team to partner Ryan Dungey in the AMA Supercross and Motocross team for 2011.

The Aussie standout revealed his move on Twitter yesterday afternoon, stepping up to the 450 Class fulltime after impressing as a rookie during the nationals this season with second overall behind Dungey.

“Its official – I am joining the factory Suzuki squad for the 2011 season,” Metcalfe posted on Twitter. “Very stoked!!! Just finished the dealer convention in Vegas today!

“Big ambitions to get improving and continue my quest to win. Thanks to everyone at Suzuki for pulling together. Can’t wait to start!”

Metcalfe has enjoyed a successful two seasons with GEICO Powersports Honda in 2009 and 2010, thankful for the team’s support during that period.

“Big thanks to Factory Connection racing for the amazing two years I had with them,” he added. “Memories I will never forget.”

Metcalfe will replace fellow Australian Matt Moss as Dungey’s teammate, with Moss expected to be joining the JDR Motorex KTM team in Australia for next season.

It’s expected an official announcement will be made this week by Suzuki in the United States.
