Honda's Allerton rounded out the year with an overall victory at Symmons Plains.

Symmons Plains round winner Glenn Allerton hopes that the victory in Tasmania will give him the momentum he needs to challenge for the 2011 Australian Superbike Championship.

The 2008 ASBK champion put in a flawless performance to win Saturday’s opening race of the weekend in the dry before a safe third in the wet on Sunday sealed him the overall in Tasmania.

“I really want to start next year with the momentum that I’ve got and obviously the Honda CBR1000RR suits my riding style,” Allerton said

“It would be great if next year I could come out and continue the form that I’ve got on the bike and carry that through season 2011.

“To finish the year on a high is the best possible end to the year. I think this is the best result I’ve ever had at the end of a season.”

The result cemented third in the championship for Allerton behind fellow Honda riders Bryan Staring and Wayne Maxwell, completing a dream year for Honda in the ASBK.

In hitting peak form at the season finale, Allerton was relieved to finally put the package together required to run at the front.

“I’m really excited to get back up on top of the podium again,” he continued. “My CBR1000RR was awesome on the weekend as everyone saw in the dry race on Saturday and the bike set up was great.

“It was one of those races where it just flowed around the track and I felt like I could have gone for another half an hour.

“A big thanks to Honda Australia for their support this year. They gave me some HRC parts that made me more competitive – that really made a difference to my season.”

Allerton’s plans for 2011 are yet to be determined, now set to contest the three-round Formula Xtreme Summer Series in December.
