AEC: Maxwell scores 6 Hour Superpole for Demolition Plus

The Demolition Plus GAS Honda Racing team of Wayne Maxwell and Josh Brookes has continued its dominant run at Phillip Island’s Bel-Ray 6-Hour, claiming the number one qualifying spot in Saturday’s Superpole session.

Maxwell completed a lap of 1:33.336 in the single lap dash to score pole, converting the team’s provisional pole position from regular qualifying.

Second on the grid for tomorrow’s Le Mans-style start will be the Team Honda Racing duo of Jamie Stauffer and Glenn Allerton, Stauffer setting the mark of 1:33.466.

Third was Team Suzuki’s Superbike effort of Josh Waters and Shawn Giles, Waters setting the early benchmark in 1:33.685 on an endurance-spec GSX-R1000.

The last of the top Superbike contenders in fourth was Scott Charlton and Cam Donald, with Victorian local Charlton setting his best of 1:35.809.

Top Superstock 1000 competitor was Ben Henry for Team Weld West in fifth outright.

Team Suzuki’s new Australian Supersport Champion Troy Herfoss was top Supersport, seventh outright.

Best of the Superstock 600 runners was InsureMyRide.com.au’s Warwick Nowland and Glenn Scott in an impressive 11th outright.

The leading Production entrant was Team Cessnock on the KTM RC8R, the team featuring multi-time Australian Supermoto Champion Angus Reekie.

Tomorrow’s race will commence at 10.30am AEST.
