Oz SX: Off-road champion Price returning to Super X roots

Dual AORC champion Toby Price will race in tonight's final round of Super X in Brisbane.

Dual AORC champion Toby Price will race in tonight's final round of Super X in Brisbane.

In 2010 he won a second Australian Off-Road Championship, his first Australian Four Day Enduro, the Finke Desert Race at his first attempt, as well as his first Hattah Desert Race, but tonight in Brisbane, MOtorex KTM Off-Road team leader Toby Price will return to his grass roots of Supercross.

The talented 23-year-old will contest Brisbane’s season finale of the Monster Energy Super X, Australasian Supercross Championship, at QSAC Stadium, and he’s looking forward to the challenge after focussing on off-road since 2009.

“I’m looking forward to the opportunity and I actually haven’t raced Supercross for a little while now,” said Price, who last competed in Super X at Brisbane in 2008. “I will try my best and that’s about all I can do to be honest!

“I’ve been wanting to do at least one round of Supercross this year and KTM said that if I wanted to then there would be a bike available to ride, so I decided I would have a go at Brisbane.

“I’ve been riding and preparing over the last couple of weeks and it all feels good so far. It will all depend on the night how we go, but I’m just out there to enjoy the experience and have some fun to round out the season.

“If I can qualify for the main event and be consistent then I’ll be happy at the end of the night.”

Price is pitted out of the factory JDR Motorex KTM team semi for tonight’s season finale, joining fellow Open class contender Tye Simmonds, as well as Lites riders PJ Larsen and Ryan Marmont.

Before switching to off-road competition, Price was a regular on the Australian Supercross and Motocross circuit.
