Herfoss hoping German Superbike experience will pay off at Queensland ASBK roun

Herfoss hopes his German experience will help in his quest to close the ASBK championship gap this weekend.

Herfoss hopes his German experience will help in his quest to close the ASBK championship gap this weekend.

Troy Herfoss has used the break in the Australian Superbike Schedule to take a guest ride in theIDM Superbike League, Germany’s domestic series.

It was a chance call-up for the Team Suzuki pilot, currently placed second, and he relished the opportunity to race in a notoriously competitive league.

“The weekend in Germany was a great experience,” said Herfoss.

“The way the team runs and the championship in general is quite different from Australia but there is no better way to prepare for an ASBK round than actually being on track and racing.

Despite not doing quite as well as he hoped in Germany, Herfoss was very positive about the experience.

“Getting used to the bike and different tyres meant that my results weren’t great on paper but I’m confident that I could make a big improvement if I was to go back again.

Herfoss is now ready to put in a charge this weekend at Queensland, hoping to make up points on current series leader, Procon Maxima BMW’s Glenn Allerton.

“I’m now focused on this weekend and am really looking forward to getting some good results at Queensland Raceway.

“It looks basic but it’s anything but. It’s a challenge to get a good lap around here – it’s not a favourite of mine but I know it pretty well and if given the respect it deserves then it can be rewarding to put in a good time.”

Herfoss currently trails Allerton by 58 points going into round five this weekend in Queensland.
