Yamaha Racing’s Kevin Curtain has put himself in great championship position after sweeping both 600 Supersport races in the penultimate round at Queensland Raceway on the weekend.

Curtain was able to win both races, but it wasn’t without facing challenges, with teammate Rick Olson and Brendan Clarke both managing to sneak by Curtain in the latter stages of race two.

The wily veteran stayed composed however, and was able to get by both riders by the second last lap to take victory, followed by Clarke and Olson.

“The track here at QR is always tough as there isn’t much to separate the riders,” Curtain commented.

“As a rider, you know when you get here you have to be on your game for every lap, of every race, and there is no such thing as an easy win here,”

The win puts Curtain in prime position to take the 2011 Supersport championship, heading into the final round’s two races with a 51 point advantage.

“It’s nice to come away with the win as the team is based here in Queensland and we are now back on top in the points, exactly where we need to be,” Curtain added.

The Supersport series will now take a break before launching into the final round on November 18-20 at Phillip Island.
