Aussie former WSS champion Andrew Pitt has traded his leathers for crew chief duties in BSB with Kawasaki.

Former Supersport World Champion Andrew Pitt has made a shock return to the British Superbike Championship paddock as crew chief for MSS Colchester Kawasaki.

The news was announced in the lead-up to Knockhill this weekend, with Pitt a surprise addition to the team as crew chief for Gary Mason.

“We’ve had a crazy few weeks as everyone knows and we’ve made some big decisions,” explained team owner Nick Morgan.

“We’ve also taken on Andrew Pitt to be Gary’s crew chief. He is a mega experienced racer and will be a great point of contact for Gazza and an asset for the team as a whole.

“Gary will definitely be back with confidence at Knockhill, Thruxton was a ‘bitty’ round for him for sure and we solved the problem that he had in race one.”

Mason is certain working with Pitt will assist him in climbing up the BSB standings in the coming rounds.

“Having Pitty in my corner has given me loads of confidence but I need a huge points haul at Knockhill,” Mason said.

Mason currently sits 12th in the championship standings ahead of Knockhill.

The team also confirmed that it’s signed Alex Lowes, who has replaced the injured Stuart Easton, for the remainder of the year – expanding to a three-rider team if Easton is deemed fit to return.
