Rockstar Makita Suzuki's Blake Young won the AMA Superbike race at Barber on Sunday.

Rockstar Makita Suzuki’s Blake Young has captured victory in race two of the AMA Pro Superbike Championship at Barber Motorsports Park in the United States.

Young finished third on Saturday’s rain-soaked opening leg, but on Sunday he swapped positions with M4 Suzuki’s Martin Cardenas.

“I just kept thinking to myself, ‘If I’m hurting this bad and this tired, he’s gotta be hurting too, so just keep after it’,” Young said.

Second on Sunday was Yamaha’s defending champion Josh Hayes, who finished fourth on Saturday in the rain.

“I knew he’d be there, he always is,” Hayes said of Young. “Blake knew the areas where I was fast, and I really thought maybe the end would come my way a little bit because it seemed like he was having to use his bike more defensively than me.

“But at the end, I think we were both in hot water: pretty hot, pretty tired, and the bikes were getting extremely hot. I made the best run I could at him, but he rode a smart race, and he beat me.”

Australian Trent Gibson had his best weekend yet with 9-12 results, Chris Trounson scored 15-11 finishes and Jordan Burgess finished 14th on Saturday and 15th on Sunday.

Race one of the Daytona Sportbike class was won by Danny Eslick for RMR Suzuki, before Hayes’ teammate Josh Herrin won on Sunday.
