Chris Fillmore will contest the AMA Superbike round at Laguna Seca for HMC KTM.

HMC KTM race team manager Mitch Hansen has announced that Chris Fillmore will race his KTM at the seventh round of the AMA Pro Road Racing Superbike Championship in conjunction with MotoGP held at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca this weekend.

When KTM and HMC announced the launch of their AMA Superbike effort earlier this season, the team was meant to race in three AMA Superbike races.

With the cancellation of the Virginia International Raceway course last week, the team decided to add Laguna Seca as the replacement race.

“We were not expecting to race at Laguna Seca this year but are looking forward to the unexpected challenge,” Hansen said.

“”We were very happy with our results in our first AMA Superbike race two weeks ago and hope to continue to move forward as we learn from race experience.

“We believe racing at Laguna Seca will aid us in furthering our development.”

Fillmore will be racing his HMC-backed KTM 1190 RC8 R Race Spec motorcycle at the Laguna Seca round.

“We definitely made a lot of progress after our first race on the bike,” Fillmore added. “I am excited to see how we will perform at Laguna Seca. I have always wanted to race this event in the Superbike class and am very excited for race day.”
