Australia’s Chris Vermeulen will sit out this weekend’s 11th round of the Superbike World Championship in Germany.

Third official Kawasaki rider Vermeulen is still working on recovering full strength in his injured left elbow and will miss the German race.

Vermeulen injured the elbow during practice on Friday at the Brno round, also forced out of the most recent round at Silverstone due to the injury.

“I fell in the first session yesterday and I landed on my same elbow I had injured previously,” Vermeulen explained at the time.

“It has swollen up quite a lot. There is no major damage and the doctors said I can ride but it will be painful.”

Vermeulen has missed much of the past two seasons since joining the factory Kawasaki team in WSBK, injury woes derailing his hopes of success aboard the ZX-10R.

The 11th round of the championship takes place at Imola on 25 September, giving where it’s expected Vermeulen will return after taking more time to get back to fighting fitness.
