Charlton and Aluma-lite win FX-Superbike finale on BMW's S 1000 RR

Aluma-lite's Scott Charlton won the FX-Superbike season finale for BMW.

Aluma-lite's Scott Charlton won the FX-Superbike season finale for BMW.

At a hot and humid Eastern Creek Circuit, Aluma-lite BMW S 1000 RR rider, Scott Charlton was victorious at the final Formula Xtreme round for the season.

Charlton was on the pace from the beginning and gave no leeway to the 2011 Formula Xtreme Champion, Kevin Curtain.

With a pole position, two race wins and one second, it was a convincing performance on the BMW RR. He only missed out on three wins by 0.03 of a second!

“The BMW was super fast today and the racing was really close, it was a lot of fun” said Charlton. “The RR definitely has the mumbo, it’s just so fast, and now that we have the suspension sorted it’s a great package.”

Team owner Derek Williams secured Charlton for two rounds of the Formula Extreme series and was very pleased with the results.

“We have not done a lot of tuning to the BMW, the RR has made our job so much easier as it’s so competitive straight out of the crate,” he added. “Scott is a great rider and he’s very easy to work with.

“The whole team have done a great job, it’s been a real David and Goliath battle today, and the little guys came out on top.”

The Aluma-lite team was assisted by Australian Superbike series leader Glenn Allerton, who runs his own suspension company – GASD – and helped with the initial settings on Charlton’s S 1000 RR.
