Suzuki to hold a large presence at Phillip Island this weekend

Suzuki fans are in for a treat this week with Suzuki having a strong presence at the opening round of the 2012 Superbike World Championship at Phillip Island.

Whilst Crescent Fixi Suzuki star John Hopkins, runner-up in the 2011 British Superbike Championship, will not be riding this weekend due to breaking a bone in his right hand at a practice session last week, Suzuki will be strongly represented at the Island by Leon Camier and Australian wildcard rider Josh Brookes.

Making his debut for Suzuki this weekend is British-born Camier, a consistent contender in the World Superbike series, who has also claimed the British Superbike Series twice, in 2009 and 2005.

Camier will be joined in the Crescent Fixi Suzuki pits by Josh Brookes, a last-minute replacement for Hopkins, who currently races for Tyco TAS Suzuki in the British Superbike Championship.

Also flying the Suzuki flag this weekend at Phillip Island in the opening round of the 2012 Australian Superbike Championship is the Team Suzuki outfit of Josh Waters, returning to Australia to race for the full season and Ben Attard, making his debut for Suzuki, whilst Josh’s younger brother Brodie will be riding for Team Suzuki in the Supersport category.

Robbie Bugden, three-time New Zealand Superbike Champion will also be competing in the Team Volvo Group Suzuki satellite outfit.

Suzuki is also an official product supplier to the Phillip Island 2012 Superbike World Championship, with 10 of its Suzuki DR-Z400S’s and six Suzuki KingQuad 750 ATVs doing the marshalling rounds across the weekend.

Visitors to Phillip Island this weekend will be also be able to view a significant display of Suzuki motorcycles, with the latest models on display in the Australian Motorcycle News Expo.

Capping off a big weekend for Suzuki is its corporate facility located about the pits.

The fully catered Suzuki suite has a private viewing area with an expansive view of the circuit and numerous flat-screen monitors inside the marquee, ensuring guests will never miss any of the action on the track.

Guests at the Suzuki facility will be treated to regular appearances across the weekend from Crescent Fixi Suzuki riders Leon Camier and Josh Brookes, along with local Team Suzuki Superbike riders, including Josh Waters.
