ASBK action from Phillip Island to air live on SPEED TV

Race two of the opening QBE Australian Superbike Championships (ASBK) round will be broadcast live on SPEED TV as part of the channel’s extensive World Superbike (WSBK) coverage at Phillip Island.

The move is a first for ASBK and one that will offer incredible exposure to a dedicated audience of motorsport enthusiasts.

“To be able to go live at round one is amazing,” said Daniel Hutchinson, general manager of IEG, promoter of ASBK.

“We need to extend our personal thanks to everyone at SPEED TV as this is exactly the type of profiling we require to grow the sport and the identity of riders.”

Team Honda Racing rider Wayne Maxwell welcomed the announcement of live coverage and said he hoped to be able to provide some thrilling action for the viewing audience.

“This is a great step, SPEED TV are doing a great job at promoting the national championship and us, the riders,” said Maxwell. “I am absolutely pumped that one of our races will be shown live.

“It not only gives us a chance to promote the ASBK and its teams, it gives us a chance to show that we can produce speeds and lap times very close to the leaders in WSBK.”

The race will be called by Kevin Magee and two-time World Supersport Champion Andrew Pitt.

Live hosted coverage of the opening round of World Superbikes begins at 2.30pm on Saturday, 25 February and 11.30am on Sunday, 26 February. Regular news updates from Phillip Island will also feature on Fox Sports News.

SPEED TV continues to be Australia’s only 24/7 channel dedicated to motorsport.
