Hook wins on debut for Team Honda Racing at Phillip Island

Rookie wonder gets it done in Honda's return to Australian Supersport.

Team Honda Racing rookie Josh Hook has claimed victory in the opening Australian Supersport Championship round of the season today at Phillip Island.

Hook won the first race of the day on debut in the Supersport class for Honda by just 0.006sec over Mitchell Carr (InsureMyRide/AARK Racing Triumph), with Brodie Waters (Team Suzuki) over seven seconds back in third.

Race two was red flagged and declared after just four laps, with Carr taking advantage to win the race from Yamaha’s Mike Jones, with Hook third. Half points were awarded for race two.

Overall it was Hook who won from Carr on 34 points to 33.5, while Waters’ 3-4 finishes sealed him the final podium position overall.

Yamaha privateer Chris Quinn was fourth after a consistent performance, while WNR Kawasaki’s Glenn Scott completed the top five.

Daniel Falzon headed a Yamaha sweep in the Superstock ranks overall from Adrian Di Giandomenico and James Beck.
