Jason O’Halloran is aiming to continue the momentum of the past few weeks and challenge for a win at Assen.

British Supersport Championship frontrunner Jason O’Halloran has never raced at the Assen circuit but that is not deterring him from challenging for his first win of the season this weekend.

The Australian rider will contest his fifth consecutive weekend of racing after standing in as a capable substitute for injured rider Mike di Meglio at JiR Moto2 in the MotoGP World Championship paddock.

The Samsung Honda rider’s principal focus is this weekend’s Supersport battle in the Netherlands, and hopes that this is the round he can break through for a long-awaited win.

“I have never raced at Assen so I can’t wait to get there and get started,” said O’Halloran. “I’m in the middle of a real busy time for me, Assen will be my fifth consecutive weekend of racing; I don’t feel like I’ve stood still for five minutes since Cadwell Park!

“Donington was good for us with a second but I felt like we were capable of more than that if it hadn’t been for a few little things in the race, so I will keep working hard and trying to improve like always.

“You can be sure I’ll be going for the win at Assen,” he added.

O’Halloran currently sits sixth on the championship standings and is currently closing the 42-point gap to Graeme Gowland having outscored him over the last three rounds.

Fellow Aussie Billy McConnell is placed a solid third, while Smiths Triumph teammate Glen Richards ranks seventh.
