InsureMyRide has announced the airing of a second season of reality program The Ultimate Rider, set to screen on One digital from 19 October.

The show was won by NSW talent Glenn Scott in 2012, who used the prize purse to put together his immensely successful privateer entry in the 2013 Australian Superbike Championship (ASBK).

In 2013, six riders will vie for the top prize of $20,000, with producers selecting a mix of dirt and road talents to showcase their skills.

Credentialed racer Daryl Beattie heads the panel and believes the challenge will be finding a rider with skills across a broad range of disciplines.

“This Series gives race fans a look behind what it really takes to become a serious competitor on two wheels and with the pressure of competition and only one winner – this is a ‘game-on’ situation,” said Beattie.

“The talent in the series is massive and it’s about each competitor harnessing their skills to deliver when it counts the most.”

Respected rider trainer Bernie Hatton will join Beattie as a judge. Hatton has a wealth of experience training riders for international careers and knows when a rider presents as a complete package.

“We have set the challenges up to let the best rider shine across a multi-genre sseries that will determine who has got what it takes,” said Hatton.

“Sure, these guys and girls can ride quick – but I’m looking for more than that. They have to keep in control, be efficient, safe and be able to put it all together on dirt, road or mud.

“I’m looking for the complete package, someone who can make it happen when the flag drops and that ain’t easy.”

Current ASBK competitors Ben Henry (Superbike), Aaron Morris (Supersport) and Sophie Lovett (Prostock, 250cc Production) have all landed a spot, along with emerging two-wheel talents Brayden Elliot, Jake Ralph and Matt Berry.
