Queenslander Linden Magee finished a strong sixth on debut at Hampton Downs in New Zealand during last weekend’s opening round of the Suzuki Series.

Riding for M1Motorsport aboard a Valvoline-backed S 1000 RR, Magee qualified fourth and went on to 12-3 finishes in the pair of F1 races.

The opening race was held in mixed conditions, with Magee limping to 12th on wets as the track quickly dried, however third in race two proved his capabilities.

“I had a really good first weekend with the M1 Motorsport team and really enjoyed my first visit to New Zealand,” Magee reflected.

“I found everyone so friendly. We worked well together as a team and improved the BMW at every session over the weekend to suit my riding style.

“I enjoyed the challenge of learning a new track and had a heap of fun on M1Motorsport’s Valvoline-sponsored BMW S 1000 RR.

“I’m super-excited for round two of the Suzuki Series at Manfeild and believe we have a good chance at winning in F1, with our lap times and race pace very close to the front guys by the day’s end.”

Round one was won by Kiwi Nick Cole ahead of Sloan Frost and Dennis Charlett. The series will resume this weekend at Manfeild.
