MRRDA announces 2014 series ambassadors

Winter Series to open next month at Sydney Motorsport Park.

The MRRDA has announced an all-star line-up of ambassadors in the lead up to the 2014 Winter Series, which will open at Sydney Motorsport Park on 1-2 February.

Ambassadors include Broc Parkes, Chris Vermeulen, Daniel Falzon, Glenn Scott, Greg Rust, Kevin Magee, Olly Simpson, Steve Martin and Troy Bayliss this season, all stepping up to show their support of the MRRDA Series.

“The MRRDA is a great series to allow young riders the chance to have a go at motorcycle road racing in Australia and to help guide our future champions to the top level of the sport,” Vermeulen commented.

“It is an honour to be an MRRDA ambassador for a great championship and I hope some of my experiences and input can be helpful to these young riders.

“It is always a pleasure to go the race, see so much enthusiasm and fun being had by the kids. That is what the sport is all about.”

Network Ten MotoGP host Greg Rust is a firm believer in the MRRDA concept, in a bid to boost Australian riders onto the world stage.

“The MRRDA has a number of ambassadors that can help the next generation of Aussie stars hone their race craft and riding skills,” Rust said. “As someone who only rides socially I’m leaving that to our experts!

“Instead what I would like to share is off-track knowledge and experience, in areas like the media, which will hopefully prepare them for the non-competitive demands placed on elite sports people.

“At the end of the day they need to possess the drive and determination. If we can help make that well-worn, very difficult path, to a world championship just a little bit easier than the MRRDA will be doing its job.

“Motorcycle racing in Australia deserves a proper high performance junior program that rival sporting codes seem to do so well.”

Entry forms for the opening rounds of the 2014 MRRDA Winter Series can now be downloaded via www.mrrda.com.
