Young gun Kyle Buckley (BC Performance A1 Kawasaki) rode to an almost near faultless ride today in the Ninja FX 300 Cup series as he delivered a 1-3-1 to beat his arch rival, Queenslander Andy Lawson (Team Moto Motorcycles) who bolted down a 3-1-2 result.

Buckley described the day as “very, very eventful” as once again this series through up some kick arse racing during the day.

“I’m really enjoying myself – I’m learning heaps!” Buckley said. “I cannot wait for tomorrow now.”

For 21-year old Lawson it was his third ride in two years so he was not expecting to be in the top three.

“We have done a lot of work and we are finally getting up there which is great,” he said. “Mallala is probably one of the best tracks in Australia I believe.

“It’s got some fast sections, some slow sections, awesome passing opportunities, that’s why the racing is so good!”

Third place went to Brandon Demmery (Noiseguard Racing/Zeneth Removals/Pirelli/RST/LST Helmets) who nailed a 2-2-4 result.

After what was a struggle day yesterday, Demmery sure did show what talents he has as he missed most out on important track time yesterday. With a 1min19.596sec lap time, this is good enough to see Demmery start from pole for tomorrow’s races.

In fourth place and the winner of the girl’s class was Sophie Lovett with Greg Epis rounding out the top five. Sixth went to Buckley’s teammate Di Jones while ex-500cc and BSB racer Paul Young who was riding the Kawasaki Motor Finance bike finished in a solid seventh place when he scored a DNF-5-3.

Grant Jordan took the spoils in the 250 Ninja Cup winning all three racers from Joshua McHenry and Stuart Green.

The Formula Oz class was taken out by the ever so young rider Phil Lovett (Cessnock Motorcycles/Harley Davidson). Matthew Harding (K&R Hydraulics/Kawasaki Connection) was second to Lovett while the home town hero Liam Wilkison played it safe to score enough points to warp up third place overall.

Adam Christie (Ace Racing/Moto-Adelaide/Under Ground Designand) Paul Byrne (LTR Honda Racing/Inglis Plumbing/999 Group) rounded out the top five. Ryan Taylor rode the wheels off his R6 bike to finish sixth. Luke Burgess who was having his debut race with the Oz Wildcard Racing Team finished in eighth just ahead Dynotech Pirelli BMW’s Ben Nicolson who hit the deck in race one after he lost the front-end.

Other class winners included Adrian Pierpoint in the F1 Nakedbike class. Royce Rowe took out the F3 class. Queenslander Michael McMillan was too strong for the field in the F1 Pro-Twin class while Darren Jones won the F2 Pro-Twins and Patrick Garway won the F3 class.
