Team Honda Racing duo Troy Herfoss and Aiden Wagner split wins in Saturday’s opening round of the 2015 Australian FX-Superbike Championship, with Herfoss getting the nod for the overall via his race two victory.

Wagner stunned on debut riding the CBR1000RR SP of Jamie Stauffer to storm to the first 15-lap race win of the round, finishing 1.716s ahead of Sean Condon (BikeBiz / Ipone / Swann Insurance Racing Kawasaki) and Herfoss a further tenth in arrears.

Defending champion Wayne Maxwell (Yamaha Racing Team with Yamaha Motorcycle Insurance) took the honours of top R1M in the opening race, working his way to forth following a bad start to edge out pole-setting teammate Cru Halliday.

Halliday led in the early laps but eventually finished fifth, 8.736 seconds ahead of third factory Yamaha Glenn Allerton, who took advantage of a late fall by Mike Jones (Australian Outdoor Living / Cube Racing Kawasaki) for sixth.

Race two was even more entertaining as Herfoss got up for the win over Condon, Wagner, Maxwell and Halliday – the five separated by just 0.471s!

Overall it was Herfoss and Wagner going 1-2 for Team Honda Racing, with the ever-impressive privateer ZX-10R of Condon coming home third despite still feeling the effects of injuries sustained earlier this year.

YRT with YMI teammates Wayne Maxwell and Cru Halliday completed the top five, while after finishing a distant sixth in race two Allerton was that same position overall.

The top 10 was completed by Linden Magee (Honda), Ben Burke (SA Kawasaki Bcperformance), Beau Beaton (McMartin Racing / Racer’s Edge / North Coast V-Twins Ducati) and Ben Henry (Australian Outdoor Living / Cube Racing Kawasaki).
