Australia’s Broc Parkes has completed an important MotoGP test with Valentino Rossi’s Movistar Yamaha team as part of his ongoing role as Michelin test rider.

Parkes has extensive experience on Michelin tyres in World Endurance and also Brigestone’s MotoGP tyres from last season with Paul Bird Motorsports, making him a rare candidate to evaluate tyres ahead of Michelin’s premier class return in 2016.

At Phillip Island earlier this month it’s understood Parkes tested an Australasian Superbike-spec Yamaha Racing Team YZF-R1 equipped with Michelins alongside regular test rider Colin Edwards, who was on board the MotoGP YZR-M1.

But Parkes’ involvement in development was increased for the Aragon outing, gaining a unique opportunity to ride a factory specification M1 while working with Rossi’s crew alongside Michelin engineers.

Parkes is currently contesting the 2015 British Superbike Championship alongside countryman Josh Brookes in the Milwaukee Yamaha team.
