Milwaukee Yamaha’s Broc Parkes is hopeful that arm-pump surgery ahead of this weekend’s Brands Hatch round of the British Superbike Championship will help him extract better results on board the YZF-R1.

Parkes has had few results in his maiden BSB season this year, however a triple podium at the venue in a guest appearance for Kawasaki during 2009 has him eager to turn his season around this weekend.

“I like Brands Hatch; it has to be one of my favourite tracks on the calendar,” Parkes explained. “Since the last round at Knockhill I have been and had arm-pump surgery, so that should help me in the second half of the year. The operation went well in Barcelona and now I am focused on next weekend and doing the best job possible to try and get back up the standings.

“In 2009 I was on the podium just behind Leon Camier in the races on the GP circuit and I have also had some World Supersport wins there too, so we need to be pushing forward again because I know we can be competitive this weekend.”

Parkes currently sits a lowly 17th in the standings following the opening five rounds, in contrast to teammate and countryman Josh Brookes’ second place entering Brands Hatch.
