The two Club Challenge classes have now been announced ahead of the fourth round of the 2015 Yamaha Motor Finance Australian Superbike Championship presented by Motul Pirelli.

The fourth round will take place at Symmons Plains in Tasmania from 4-6 September and will feature the Period 5/6 Historics and Formula 3 support classes.

Speaking about the Club classes and the event coming to Tasmania in less than one month, Tasmanian Motorcycle Club president Gaby McMahon said that preparations are tracking well for the Tasmanian leg of the series.

“We are really excited because it has been a long time since the clubs have been able to hold an Australian Championship,” he said. “Previously in the last 10 or so years it has been run by private promoters so to get it back into the club hands is a good thing.

“The Formula 3 Club class covers all classes – it generally covers everything including 125s, but we are not running them this year as there is already a class for them. But the Formula 3 class will be 250 Production based, up to 400 four-cylinder, 650 Twins and 750 Singles. The Historic is Period 5/6 and it means that we should get a good roll up for the round.”

McMahon said the club together with ASBK organisers are trying to make the event appealing to everyone and is looking forward to showcasing his state as part of the national series.

“We have tried to cater to get as many people involved,” he added. “We have catered for every single class and that should keep people happy and get good numbers on the track. We will get riders from all over Tasmania even though there has always been competition for riders between the North and the South, but everyone is looking forward to it.

“Most people are very excited, we will have a lot of the local bike shops set up in a trade alley at the event, and there will be a Come and Try area for the small kids to have a go.”
