Elliott qualifies on Supersport class pole position.
Australian Outdoor Living Cube Racing Kawasaki’s Mike Jones claimed the Pirelli Superpole at Symmons Plains, Tasmania, this afternoon at round four of the Yamaha Motor Finance Australian Superbike Championship presented by Motul Pirelli.
Superbike championship leader Jones posted a 53.972s lap during the Superpole session – the lone rider to dip beneath to 54s bracket this weekend.
Behind Jones came Daniel Falzon on the Caterpillar EPSA-backed JD Racing Yamaha at 54.522s, which was an impressive showing following a major incident in the opening qualifier.
In the end following Superpole, Falzon had rebounded to qualify comfortably ahead of Kiwi Ryan Hampton’s (Next Gen Motorsports BMW) 55.144s laptime.
Starting out of position four on Sunday will be Ben Henry (Australian Outdoor Living Cube Racing Kawasaki), with Tasmanian Brett Simmonds (Yamaha) once again completing the top five.
Simmonds led what was a trio of Tasmanians inside the top 10, directly trailed by Brad Wootton (North West Motorcycles Suzuki) and Quintin Blazley (Suzuki).
In Supersport it was Hankook Tyres Suzuki standout Brayden Elliott who scored pole on his GSX-R600, as his 56.667s lap held out fellow Suzuki rider Kane Burns’ 56.718s – both times set in session one.
Sam Lambert (Triumph) remained third fastest for today, followed by Aaiden Coote (Yamaha) and Chris Quinn (Yamaha) completing the top five runners.
Production race one win belonged to Justin Hall marginally ahead of Michelle Marais, before later the opening Moto3/125GP race was won by Tom Bramich over Ted Collins and Brian Houghton.
The Club Challenge Formula 3 ranks saw Will Swann surge to the opening win of the weekend, while Dave McCullagh took out race one of the Club Challenge Period 5-6 machines.
