British Superstock 1000 contender looking to minimise downtime.
Australian Brayden Elliott is hopeful of making the next round of the British Superstock 1000 Championship at Thruxton following a nasty crash at last weekend’s seventh stop of the series at Brands Hatch.
The CF Motorsport racer was fighting for position in the top 20 during the opening race when he attempted to make a pass, which saw him crash in turn one, ultimately sliding into the air fence and suffering a concussion.
“I am feeling very sore after my crash on Saturday,” Elliott stated. “It is a shame that the weekend ended the way it did after we received some promising momentum during the first part of the race.
“I felt really comfortable on the Yamaha R1 and got my best times of the weekend so far in those opening laps. It was a shame that I couldn’t continue with the rest of the weekend but in situations like these my health comes first.”
Elliott, who was transported to a local hospital where further scans cleared him of serious injury, praised the assistance of the track and hospital medical staff, revealing he’ll focus on managing his head injury in the lead up to Thruxton in two weeks time.
“The medics at the track were fantastic,” he continued. “As were the doctors and nurses at the hospital helping me to get out that night. I will focus these next two weeks on getting plenty of rest, and recovering before round eight.”
Thruxton’s eighth round of the British Superstock 1000 Championship is scheduled for 4-6 August.
