Australian international Anthony West has been drafted into the Kawasaki Puccetti Racing for the final four rounds of the 2017 FIM Superbike World (WorldSBK) Championship.

West will replace team regular Randy Krummenacher, who has been forced to withdraw from the remaining stops on the WorldSBK calendar with an ongoing wrist injury.

The newly-signed Aussie, who has contested a variety of championships in 2017 including MotoAmerica and WorldSSP where he lodged a podium finish, expressed his pleasure of taking on the opportunity, mentioning he’s excited to return to the world stage.

“I am very happy with this opportunity to return to world Superbike riding a Kawasaki with a strong team like Puccetti,” West commented. “I would also like to thank my EAB West Racing team for understanding my needs and giving me the chance to take this opportunity.

“Bakel Ferry and Peiro have been working hard to be able to continue running in Supersport this year, so it’s also thanks to their efforts that I need this opportunity to return to Superbike. I’m excited to finish the season with a new bike and a new team, I’m looking forward to arriving in Portugal, and getting to know the Puccetti Racing team.”

In 2016, West completed six rounds in the premier WorldSBK division and managed to record six top 10 finishes. His first appearance with the Kawasaki outfit will be this weekend at Portimao in Portugal for the 10th round of the series.
