National initiative promotes awareness of motorcycle and rider safety.
The second national Ride Your Motorcycle To Work Week has commenced, launching today with motorcyclists around the country taking to the road to support the initiative.
Encouraging Australia to bring fun to the daily commute, the initiative aims to ensure motorcycles are properly maintained and prepared for the summer riding season following a lengthy winter break.
The concentrated week of two-wheeled commuting also provides visibility in numbers for one of the highest-risk road user groups, drawing public attention to rider safety.
Federal Chamber of Automotive Industries (FCAI) chief executive Tony Weber said the program is aimed to get riders back on their bikes safely.
“The passion motorcyclists have for riding is incredible,” said Weber. “Ride Your Motorcycle to Work Week is about sharing that passion while reminding riders to make sure their bike is operating correctly, that it’s safe and prepared for their commute, and for the summer riding season.” Ride Your Motorcycle To Work Week will finish up on Friday, 26 October.
