RaceDNA Motorsports will field current Australian Supersport 300 Championship leader Brandon Demmery for the remainder of the 2023 season, the experienced contender making the transition ahead of the final two Mi-Bike Australian Superbike Championship (ASBK) rounds this year.

Demmery, 26, competed under the Demmery Motorsports outfit with support from former world champion Troy Corser across the races contested so far, currently holding a two-point advantage in the Supersport 300 standings as he makes the switch to the Queensland-based team.

“It’s something that I am excited to do,” Demmery explained to CycleOnline. “Jason runs a really good program, something that I have been keeping an eye on all year. He has been working really hard, seeing the progress he has made with his riders, it’s just something that I am interested in joining.

“My team has come to a bit of a difficult situation, sort of outside everybody’s control. Jason and I have come to an arrangement to go and ride with him, and work with him, it will be a beneficial team for both of us. Obviously, I get to continue riding, and I can bring some experience and some knowledge to his team and help them.”

Demmery has outlined he maintains a positive relationship with Corser, however, it is unclear at this stage what involvement he will have with his racing as he joins RaceDNA.

The immediate goal of the number 11 is to win both the ASBK Supersport 300, and R3 Cup titles this year, before placing a focus on the 2024 season and a potential step to the Supersport category.

“Like in anything, you are always going to consider all of your options, and something I originally reached out to Jason about was next year,” Demmery continued. “Then we sort of got talking, and things to a more immediate relationship, starting the relationship more immediately.

“It has all come about pretty fast, but I’m pretty excited. Obviously, I am still considering all options, we haven’t really gone too much down 2024s path yet, we are going to concentrate on finishing this off this year and hopefully bringing the championship home.”

RaceDNA is a manufacturer of motorcycle race and road parts, and RaceDNA Motorsports is a branch of the company in terms of competition. The brand itself was launched in 2021, with 2023 marking its first full season in the ASBK Championship.

The team currently fields Casey Middleton, Brock Quinlan, Calvin Moylan and the recovering Daley Mills onboard Kawasaki Ninja 400s in the Supersport 300 class, while Demmery will join the team and continue to compete onboard a Yamaha R3.

RaceDNA Motorsports team owner Jason Whitehead added: “It’s pretty exciting, especially being a young team, 2023 being our first year in the ASBK. To have Brandon come and approach us, saying that we are doing some good things through the season and how professional our outfit looks, and how we are working. That’s pretty exciting for someone of his calibre to come across and say that.

“It’s a pretty big step forwards for RaceDNA Motorsports, I was never expecting to have a rider like him. We are a development team, as opposed to having guys who can get on a bike and win straight up, so that’s pretty cool.

“To have him on board is massive. Massive for all of the juniors in our team that they can learn from him. He’s obviously been in the game a long time, I used to race, but not as much as him. There are things I can learn from him, and we are all pretty excited to have him on board and see where the future takes him with his involvement with the team.”
