WOODSTOCK HONDA SET FOR OZ MX RD1

Woodstock Honda Thor Racing press release:

With the 2009 MX Nationals kicking off this weekend (April 4th-5th) in Wodonga, Woodstock Honda Thor will be the team to beat following spectacular performances by Ford Dale, Todd Waters and Peter Boyle in recent weeks.

Ford Dale

Competing with all the Factory teams at the Sunstate Series in Towoomba (QLD), Ford Dale piloted the revered Honda CRF450R to an amazing third position in the first moto after a huge pile up before they had even reached the first corner. Showing amazing speed, Dale was satisfied with the result.

‘”I found the track conditions a bit tricky in the first race but I had some luck go my way and was able to get up the front”.

However Dale’s luck ran out in the second race, suffering a race ending crash on the first lap. Despite this, both team and rider are confident going into the season opener this weekend.
“I’m really looking forward to the first round. The bike is awesome, the team is working well and I can’t wait to start battling it out in Wodonga” said the 20 year old.

Todd Waters

Woodstock Honda Thor’s Todd Waters also sent a clear warning to his 2009 rivals by taking the race 2 win by over 9 seconds and with it, the overall win in the 4th round of the Sunstate Series. Waters victory was even more impressive as he had to overcome issues with the starting gates.

“I was struggling with starts all weekend for some reason, which meant I had to fight to get up the front. I had some problems in the first race but in the second race I came out of the gate slow and it took a while before I hit the lead. After that I was really happy to hold off Cheyne Boyd for the win”.

Proving his supreme skills yet again, Waters also took a win in Canberra last weekend, smashing more favoured and more experienced competitors such as Jay Marmont.

His confidence building with every race, 19 year old Waters is also eager to start the National Season and build on his maturity as a racer. “I’ve got the speed- I’ve just got to keep my head straight and not make any silly mistakes”.

Peter Boyle

The third Woodstock Honda Thor rider competing at Towoomba was Peter Boyle. Competing only in the first race, Boyle was taken out and recovered to finish a commendable 17th position.

With more hours on the bike, some suspension changes and an intensive training regime, Boyle then competed in the Victorian Off-road Championships at Wonthaggi on March 28-29th and romped home to take the win in dominating style.

“All the set-up work has been great and I’m feeling really confident on the bike and about the upcoming championship” said Boyle.

Dean Ferris

One notable omission from the first round will be Dean Ferris. The young New South Welshman is still recovering from a broken arm and various other injuries sustained after a crash in Harvey Bay three weeks ago.

“I’ve started physio and am gaining more movement”. Despite the setbacks, Ferris is keen to get back in form. “I’m seeing the doctors again in a few weeks and can’t wait to get on the bike again”.

The first round of the MX Nationals begins on April 4th and 5th at Wodonga.
