CUDLIN GETS NEW AMA RIDE FOR BARBER

Paradigm Racing press release:

Paradigm Racing is proud to announce that Damian Cudlin will be sporting the # 51 plate for the team at Barber Motor Sports Park in the Honda Superbike Classic on May 1-3. Cudlin missed the Road Atlanta round of the series after a sponsorship deal fell through; however a team swap has raised the hopes of the Australian rider.

“Coming out of Fontana I was really discouraged with my sponsorship situation after things fell through. As a result I couldn’t ride at Road Atlanta, but I’m thrilled at the new opportunities Paradigm Racing is presenting. Barber is a world-class track and I can’t wait to show what I bring to the new team.”

Despite missing the Road Atlanta round Damian has remained busy by participating in the opening round of the 2009 World Endurance Championship. The race, held at the historic Le Mans race track, is a brutal test of skill and consistency that runs for a full 24 hours.

The team expansion comes on the heels of a disappointing pair of races at Road Atlanta. An electronic issue complicated efforts in qualifying and resulted in a 19th place position on the grid for the weekend’s two races. However, both races saw the team making consistent forward progress despite the difficult qualifying position. Team rider Barrett Long was also dissatisfied with the weekend’s results.

“Coming into this weekend we had high hopes and were expecting good things. We encountered a problem that set us back considerably, but in the end we were able to make up some slight ground. When you qualify where we did it becomes an uphill battle from the start and that’s where we were throughout the weekend. Despite two tough finishes I’m excited and confident that we can get some quality results at Barber.”

With nearly a month of downtime the team has been able to revise strategies toward better finishes in the remaining races of the season. Through the four rounds completed the team has consistently remained in the top half of the field. With strong finishes in Daytona and Fontana, Paradigm Racing is looking forward to the Honda Superbike Classic at Barber Motorsports Park.
