Former Australian Supersport Champion Shannon Johnson has commenced his return campaign to the category, completing a test with the Motobet-sponsored Procon Motologic Honda team at Winton in Victoria today.

Johnson, who last raced for the factory Honda team in 2003, made his debut on the 2009 CBR600RR, which has received a number of changes that has increased the horsepower since Wayne Maxwell raced for Motologic in Supersport last year.

“The test at Winton was good to get some time on the bike again and it was great to get some seat time on the 600 before we race next weekend,” Johnson told MotoOnline.com.au. “Hopefully we can go to the first race with the new team and get on the podium and then build from there.”

Less than one week away from the Queensland double-header round next weekend, which marks round three of the 2009 Woodstock Bourbon Australian Superbike Championship, Johnson spent four sessions on the bike and lapped in the 1:25 range despite his limited schedule.
