Guintoli may be out for the season after Brookes incident

Australian Josh Brookes has come under fire from the British press and fans after an accident at the Donington Park round of the British Superbike Championship last weekend saw him collide with series contender Sylvain Guintoli on the sighting lap of race one.

Ex-MotoGP star Guintoli suffered a compound fracture of the tibia and fibula bones in his leg, which British Motorcycle News are reporting could force him out of the remainder of the season after it was discovered that there are pieces of bone missing from the break.

Brookes has been slammed by critics after the incident, the winner of last year’s World Supersport race at Donington having a horrid season to date in his debut season with the factory HM Plant Honda team after missing round one due to visa problems and not finishing either race on the weekend.

Replacing Guintoli at the Crescent Worx Suzuki team will be experienced veteran Michael Rutter, who recently separated from the North West 200 Yamaha team after a slow start to the season.
