Oz SX: Reed fastest in close qualifying session in Canberra

Monster Energy Kawasaki’s Chad Reed set the fastest lap in qualifying at Canberra Stadium in the ACT for round four of the Monster Energy Super X, Australasian Supercross Championship, this afternoon.

A tight circuit with one of the shortest lap times on the calendar, Reed was quickest ahead of series leader Dan Reardon (Woodstock Honda Thor Racing), with less than a tenth of a second separating the pair.

Third quickest was the ever improving Michael Byrne on the Rockstar Maxima Honda, with Craig Anderson (Team Kawasaki) and young gun Tye Simmonds (Motorex KTM).

American seven-time AMA champion Jeremy McGrath has made his debut in the 2009 series with Woodstock Honda, setting the 12th fastest lap time in qualifying on the hard-packed circuit.

Top Lites qualifiers were Matt Moss (Rockstar Motul Suzuki) and Kyle Cunningham (Serco Yamaha), third and fourth fastest overall.
