Oz SX: Reed set for back-to-back Super X titles this Saturday

CHAD REED:

The final chapter of Chad Reed’s Super X title defence will be played out tomorrow as the Monster Energy Kawasaki rider contests round 7 of the championship at Brisbane’s QSAC.

Reed has come on strong in the second half of the season after overcoming a number of obstacles and coming to grips with his new ride, the KX450F.

The only fortnight break in competition allowed the 27-year-old to spend some valuable testing time with his mechanic and crew in preparation for tomorrow’s clash.

If he wins it will be his second title for 2009, having already claimed honours in the AMA Motocross championship.

“I’m looking forward to the final round, we’ve been working hard on the bike all week and feel as though we’re prepared for anything,” said Reed.

“The points are still close and there will be a number of wildcards in the field so its important that I get away from the line well and find rhythm early with the Triple Challenge format sure to mix things up.

“It’s been a solid season and very good preparation for that all important Anaheim 1 race which is only a month away.

“Taking home the title would be a real boost and a good way to reward my team who have based themselves out here to test and go racing.”

Reed leads the Open class by 14 points over Daniel Reardon and has won 3 of the 6 rounds contested this year.

This weekend’s format pits riders against each other across three, 7-lap races, with combined results to decide the winner.
