Rockstar Makita Suzuki team manager Roger DeCoster is confident that Australian Pro Lites Supercross and Australasian Pro Lites Champion Matt Moss has what it takes to success in the United States.

Moss will debut with the factory Suzuki team in the AMA Supercross and Motocross Championships this year on an RM-Z450, but will miss the opening rounds due to a compressed T5 vertebra suffered at Brisbane’s Super X finale.

“We had big hopes to see Matt Moss making the move up from Lites at the same time as Ryan [Dungey], but due to his injuries sustained on a 450 after wining the Lites title in Australia, Matt will probably miss the first six events,” DeCoster said. “I have been told that he is pretty resilient and should be able to come back strong.”

Moss is expected to return for the Indianapolis round of the series late next month, also the race where twin brother Jake will debut in the East Coast Lites for Rockstar Canidae Suzuki.

Matt Moss will partner current Lites Supercross and Motocross Champion Dungey on the 450 in the factory team for 2010, with Lites rider Austin Stroupe contesting the opening round in place of Moss on the 450 this weekend at Anaheim in California.

Meanwhile, Jake Moss is expected to return to riding next week after injuring his arm in a crash at Tasmania’s opening Super X round in Launceston, set to enter the East Coast series as a favourite in what will be his third season in the AMA series.
