Oz SW: Live telecast of Speedway finale set for tonight

With the final round of the 2010 Australian Solo Speedway Championship only hours away, those who can’t make it to Newcastle, NSW, can still check out all the action online with a live telecast set for 6:30pm at www.nbntv.com.au.

20 crew members will work together to bring viewers the six camera High Definition outside broadcast and the footage taken from the final round of the championship will also air on Fox 2, Fox 3, WIN, NBN and Channel Nine over the coming weeks.

Speaking before the event, World Under 21 Speedway Champion, Darcy Ward, currently sitting in third place, said that it was through telecasts like this that Speedway would continue to grow.

“The live telecast is definitely a step forward for speedway in Australia,” Ward said. “I think it’ll be good for the sport and hopefully more people will see it and enjoy it and come along to the events.”

With only a handful of points separating the top three riders the third and final round Championship is one not to be missed.

1. Troy Batchelor – 40 points
2. Chris Holder – 36 pts
3. Darcy Ward – 34 pts
