Kirk Gibbs will be looking for his first overall Pro Lites win in Canberra.

Serco Yamaha’s Kirk Gibbs is determined to score his first overall Pro Lites victory of the season in the Rockstar Energy MX Nationals this weekend, when Fairbairn Park in the ACT host’s the second round of the 2010 championship series.

Gibbs made a promising start to his 2010 season taking a race win and third overall at the opening round in Horsham, the race win boosting the 20-year-old South Australian’s confidence and he now wants to keep the momentum rolling at round two, stating that starts will be critical this weekend.

“I got off to the right start in the championship now I have to consolidate my place inside the top three,” Gibbs said. “I like the Canberra track with its fun jumps and hard pack surface, but I believe starts will be the key this weekend.”

Teammate Ford Dale looked strong in the opening two motos at Horsham and was on track for another good finish when he took a fall and was unable to finish the third and final leg. Despite the DNF, Dale sits in 12th.

“The DNF in the last race at Horsham was frustrating, but I can’t change it now,” Dale explained. “All I can do is go to Canberra and post four consistently good race results and get myself in championship contention.”

Racing action will commence at Fairbairn Park in the ACT on Sunday morning, marking round two with the ultra tough Sprint format of four back-to-back motos.
