The recent MX National event at Albury Wodonga in Victoria saw CDR Rockstar Yamaha team members Craig Dack, Gary Benn and Shawn Hodgetts share their vast knowledge of dirt bikes to a room full of motorcycle enthusiasts at Whitehouse Motorcycles in Albury.

The informative night held in the workshop and showroom of Whitehouse Motorcycles gave customers an inside look at the running, maintaining and logistical work that goes into running a national motocross team.

Benn, a man with over 30 years experience both nationally and internationally, along with team technician Hodgetts ran the wide-eyed enthusiasts through everything from how to build a race bike, to developing motor and suspension performance, to the maintenance schedule required to keep the bikes in championship winning form.

The demo bike used was no less than Jay Marmont’s MX National Championship leading Yamaha YZ450FZ.

Dack explained his role as owner and manager of the team and the internal workings of CDR Rockstar Energy Drink Yamaha, coming away from the night impressed with the roll up and the personal experience with Yamaha customers.

“The night went sensationally well,” Dack explained. “Many people don’t really understand how a race team functions and its purpose within the company. Part of our role is to provide information to Yamaha and its dealers on the YZ450F and any helpful hints for the customer to get the best from their Yamaha purchase.

“I’m sure that everyone there got something from it and hopefully went home and put it into practice on their Yamaha.”

Dealer principle Stephen Whitehouse was one of the many impressed with the professional presentation and information provided by the CDR Rockstar Yamaha team.

“On behalf of Whitehouse Motorcycles, I would like to thank the CDR Rockstar Yamaha Team for the privilege of being able to host the night,” he commented.

“I can’t speak highly enough of the effort and time taken by Craig, Gary and Shawn and they are fantastic ambassadors for Yamaha. The feedback we have had from our customers has been very positive and the information they gained from the night invaluable.”

Yamaha’s race teams will continue to provide information nights like this to their dealers and customers, so stay tuned to the Yamaha website for upcoming nights and details at www.yamaha-motor.com.au.
