The worlds of Freestyle Motocross and Motocross will once again collide this weekend as Red Bull Xray returns to the Razorback Ranch in New South Wales.

The brainchild of Robbie Maddison, the event sees Maddo and fifteen of Australia’s best FMX and Motocross riders compete in three categories – FMX, Speed and Style, and, Best Whip.

And the Red Bull X-Fighter – who’s currently based in the USA – is clearly looking forward to going back home.

“I’m stoked to be coming back to do Xray,” said Maddo. “It’s been a project of mine for years now and last year definitely blew the doors off Picton. The Speed and Style format was perfect for the big, natural terrain course and we had some unbelievable riders on hand. I can’t wait to get back home this year and show my Aussie fans what we’re all about!”

When the competition gets underway, eight FMX riders will battle it out in the first category, taking part in eliminators until two are left in the final. There two riders fight over three timed runs to decide the title.

In the Speed and Style category those riders will come face-to-face with eight of the top Motocross riders in the country as they race around the Picton track, with the lowest time winning. Time is taken off the clock for every successful trick landed – giving the FMX guys a chance.

The final category is the simple but effective Best Whip. The riders all hit the massive 120-foot tabletop jump in front of the judges’ tower and throw the bike as far sideways and upside-down as possible.

The Razorback Ranch track is one that riders dream about. Situated in a natural valley, 12 jumps – of up to 140 feet – are framed by hills to create an amphitheatre and provide an electric atmosphere.

For the event, Maddo will be joined by 15 of Australia’s best riders. Those taking part in 2010 include X Games gold medalist Cam Sinclair, MX champion Tye Simmonds, X-Fighter Clint Moore, and a very special FMX guest.
