Defending dual Monster Energy Super X Australasian Supercross Champion Chad Reed has been confirmed as a member of TeamVodafone to complete the 2010 season as predicted by MotoOnline.com.au last week (click here).

The deal was officially confirmed by the leading V8 Supercars team today, fresh from its historic 1-2 finish at Bathurst on Sunday, with the official launch to be held in Darling Harbour tomorrow afternoon.

Multiple World Supercross and 2009 AMA Motocross Champion Reed will be joined by current TeamVodafone Bathurst champion Mark Skaife at the launch.

Reed is a long-time supporter of the team and has been a guest in the garage at a number of events.

Returning home for the Super X opener at Newcastle this week, Reed will unveil a unique livery for his 450cc race machine, however the brand of bike is yet to be revealed – believed to be a Honda CRF450R.

According to an announcement by TeamVodafone today, the livery borrows from the unique look of TeamVodafone’s Holden Commodore race cars and will stand out on track when Reed races in front of his home Newcastle Super X crowd for the first time.

In addition, Reed’s riding gear has been custom-made to reflect the suits donned by drivers.

Reed will race under the TeamVodafone banner for the remainder of the year, and get the opportunity to further his passion for four wheels with tests aboard the team’s Holden Commodore.

The last time he was behind the wheel of a TeamVodafone racecar was when the H-pattern gearbox was mandatory, and he is looking forward to the challenge of mastering the sequential shifter.

Stay tuned to MotoOnline.com.au from 1:00pm tomorrow with news and images direct from the official launch.
