Lorenzini by Leoni Kawasaki team owner Vanni Lorenzini believes that Australian Superbike Championship leader Bryan Staring has the determination to succeed at the top level of the sport in Europe.

Staring tested the all-new 2011 model ZX-10R Superstock bike with the team following the final round of the Superbike World Championship at Magny-Cours in France at the beginning of the month, impressing with just limited time in the saddle.

“It’s a different story for Bryan Staring – he’s a young Australian rider, who is currently in the lead of the national Superbike championship,” Lorenzini said. “He’s got a good throttle hand and the right determination to succeed.”

Lorenzini was speaking of the Magny-Cours tests, where he allowed Staring to test the ZX-10R alongside a host of European regulars.

“In Supersport we did the tests with Vittorio Iannuzzo and Matteo Baiocco,” he continued. “They were both full of praise and of course this gives us great pleasure, we’ll have to see if it will be possible to confirm one of the two [alongside the returning Fabien Foret].

“As for Superstock 1000, as well as being impressed by the basic potential of the new bike, which has advanced electronics, a powerful engine and better handling. I can also say that I’m pleased to have signed Sheridan Morais, one of the key riders on the market.

“In the tests we also tried out Santiago Barragan and Sylvain Barrier [alongside Staring], who provided us with some useful information as they have ridden on various bikes throughout this season.”

The Lorenzini team hasn’t confirmed its second Superstock 1000 rider for 2011, however it’s believed the team requires sponsorship to be provided by the rider – a factor that could rule Staring out of the seat for next season despite an impressive test.

“I’m hoping to wrap everything up before the Aragon tests, where we should be present both with the Supersport and the Superstock machines,” Lorenzini concluded.
