Triumph and Suzuki are set to battle it out for Supersport honours at the Bel-Ray 6 Hour in December.

Triumph Australia has confirmed that it will enter a team in the 2010 Bel-Ray 6 Hour, to be held at Phillip Island in Victoria on 3-5 December.

With the support of Aark Racing’s Andy Offer and Triumph Australia’s technical manager Cliff Stovall, the three rider team will feature Christan Casella, Marty Craggill and John Chiodo.

Casella is currently second in the ASBK Supersport series with one round remaining, while Craggill is a former dual national Superbike champion. Chiodo will also make his return to racing, the Monza Imports managing director a regular in Aussie racing during the ’80s and ’90s.

Entering in the Supersport class, the team will endevour to relive the glory days of Triumph’s on track success with a Triumph Daytona 675.

After tasting success in this year’s ASBK Supersport series with Casella, Triumph is confident that they can be extremely competitive in the event and is hopeful that they can once again upset some of the bigger names as it did in the running of the 1970 event with the venerable Triumph Bonneville 650 ridden by Len Atlee and Bryan Hindle.

The triumph entry will enter as a favourite for the Supersport honours alongside the Team Suzuki entry of Troy Herfoss and Brodie Waters, which is to be confirmed in the coming weeks.
