Talented JDR Motorex KTM teenager Tye Simmonds will be looking for a breakthrough performance this weekend when the 2010 Super X, Australasian Supercross Championship, heads across the Tasman to Auckland in New Zealand on Saturday, 13 November.

Simmonds currently sits sixth in the Super X point standings after the opening three rounds on the all-new 2011 model 350SX-F, however a second place finish in last year’s NZ round of Super X has him confident of a good result come Saturday evening.

“I feel my riding has been pretty good so far, but we’ve been working on intensity heading into the New Zealand rounds,” 18-year-old Bourke local Simmonds commented. “Second was good over there last year, so I’m looking forward to heading back and getting a good result.”

Joining Simmonds in the Open category is American Mike Alessi, who currently sits 11th in the standings after bad luck plagued him in the opening rounds, however the Californian is determined to return to the top five this weekend.

JDR Motorex KTM teammates PJ Larsen and Ryan Marmont hold down podium positions in the Lites class at this stage in second and third respectively, both looking to make inroads to series leader and defending champion Matt Moss in Auckland.

This weekend marks the first time the New Zealand rounds have featured as championship point-scoring events for the Lites, with American Larsen and Wollongong’s Marmont sure to contend for victory on their 2011 model 250SX-F race bikes.

Australian fans will be able to catch Auckland’s action live on FOXTEL’s new SPEED channel at 7.30pm on Saturday, 13 November (check your local guide for details and confirmation on time).
