CDR Rockstar Energy Yamaha’s Jay Marmont says that tonight’s Auckland round of the Monster Energy Super X, Australasian Supercross Championship, could be the turning point of his season.

The reigning triple MX Nationals Champion trails American Josh Hansen in the point standings by 24 after three rounds, but with Americans Justin Brayton and Kevin Windham now returning home, it’s up to Marmont to hound Hansen for the series.

“I have been consistent so far but I’m not 100 percent happy with how I have raced,” Marmont commented.

“I feel I have been getting better each round and the team has also found a few gains in the bike during a test session this week, so I hope to be able to get on the podium and close up the points’ gap between myself and Hansen.”

Marmont has been a picture of consistency so far this year with 5-4-4 results in the three rounds contested to date, however a breakthrough podium this weekend would go a long way toward his title hopes.

Tonight’s Auckland round of the series is scheduled to be televised in Australia at 7.30pm AEST on FOXTEL’s new SPEED channel.
