Cougar Bourbon Honda Thor Racing continued its streak of bad luck at last night’s Auckland round of the Monster Energy Super X, Australasian Supercross Championship, the team failing to make the top five in either the Open or Lites main events.

Title hope and current series number two Dan Reardon finished ninth overall with 7-15-4-13 across the six-lap Quad Challenge, and was left to rue the missed opportunity to make back ground in the championship.

“I came here needing to have a good round to make sure I was still in the championship hunt, but it’s not worked out how I planned,” commented the Queenslander.

“I had pace early but got caught out in two of the quad challenge races and ran out of time to get back into the top ten which is disappointing.”

Todd Waters went 10-7-14-4 for a marginally better result than his elder teammate in seventh, but was also frustrated that his Auckland aims could not be achieved.

Lites pilot Kade Mosig’s night turned sour in the Triple Challenge final despite a solid run of results during the initial practice and qualifying sessions.

He managed to score points in every race but was forced to fight back from two opening lap crashes which hindered his progress.

“I started well today, rode awesome in practice and just took a much more relaxed approach to riding which worked really well,” explained Mosig.

“In my second heat I was comfortable and myself and Matt Moss basically checked out from the field so I was really looking forward to a strong result.

“In the finals I had good starts well within the top ten but got collected by other riders, twice in the same corner and lost the front end.

“Considering how it started it’s been a disappointing night. I know I’ve got the speed, I just need to iron out a few things so I can get some solid race results under my belt.”

Mosig is currently placed 12th in the Lites class aboard his CRF250R.
